. 暗嫩因愛他瑪，但因為他瑪還是處女，暗嫩以為難向他行事，結果約拿達叫他用甚麼詭計?造成甚麼結果?押沙龍用甚麼方式來報復?

撒下13:1大衛的兒子押沙龍有一個美貌的妹子，名叫他瑪，大衛的兒子暗嫩愛他。
撒下13:2暗嫩為他妹子他瑪憂急成病，他瑪還是處女，暗嫩以為難向他行事。
撒下13:3暗嫩有一個朋友，名叫約拿達，是大衛長兄示米亞的兒子，這約拿達為人極其狡猾。
撒下13:4他問暗嫩說：王的兒子阿，為何一天比一天瘦弱呢，請你告訴我。暗嫩回答說：我愛我兄弟押沙龍的妹子他瑪。
撒下13:5約拿達說：你不如躺在床上裝病，你父親來看你，就對他說：求父叫我妹子他瑪來，在我眼前豫備食物，遞給我吃，使我看見，好從他手裡接過來吃。
撒下13:6於是暗嫩躺臥裝病，王來看他，他對王說：求父叫我妹子他瑪來，在我眼前為我作兩個餅，我好從他手裡接過來吃。
撒下13:7大衛就打發人到宮裡，對他瑪說：你往你哥哥暗嫩的屋裡去，為他豫備食物。
撒下13:8他瑪就到他哥哥暗嫩的屋裡，暗嫩正躺臥。他瑪摶麵，在他眼前作餅，且烤熟了。
撒下13:9在他面前，將餅從鍋裡倒出來，他卻不肯吃，便說：眾人離開我出去罷，眾人就都離開他出去了。
撒下13:10暗嫩對他瑪說：你把食物拿進臥房，我好從你手裡接過來吃，他瑪就把所作的餅，拿進臥房，到他哥哥暗嫩那裡。
撒下13:11拿著餅上前給他吃，他便拉住他瑪，說：我妹妹，你來與我同寢。
撒下13:12他瑪說：我哥哥，不要玷辱我，以色列人中不當這樣行，你不要作這醜事。
撒下13:13你玷辱了我，我何以掩蓋我的羞恥呢。你在以色列中也成了愚妄人，你可以求王，他必不禁止我歸你。
撒下13:14但暗嫩不肯聽他的話，因比他力大就玷辱他，與他同寢。
撒下13:15隨後，暗嫩極其恨他，那恨他的心，比先前愛他的心更甚，對他說：你起來去罷。
撒下13:16他瑪說：不要這樣，你趕出我去的這罪，比你才行的更重，但暗嫩不肯聽他的話。
撒下13:17就叫伺候自己的僕人來，說：將這個女子趕出去，他一出去，你就關門上閂。
撒下13:18那時他瑪穿著彩衣，因為沒有出嫁的公主都是這樣穿，暗嫩的僕人就把他趕出去，關門上閂。
撒下13:19他瑪把灰塵撒在頭上，撕裂所穿的彩衣，以手抱頭，一面行走，一面哭喊。
撒下13:20他胞兄押沙龍問他說：莫非你哥哥暗嫩與你親近了麼。我妹妹，暫且不要作聲，他是你的哥哥，不要將這事放在心上，他瑪就孤孤單單的住在他胞兄押沙龍家裡。
撒下13:21大衛王聽見這事，就甚發怒。
撒下13:22押沙龍並不和他哥哥暗嫩說好說歹，因為暗嫩玷辱他妹妹他瑪，所以押沙龍恨惡他。
撒下13:23過了二年，在靠近以法蓮的巴力夏瑣，有人為押沙龍剪羊毛，押沙龍請王的眾子與他同去。
撒下13:24押沙龍來見王，說：現在有人為僕人剪羊毛，請王，和王的臣僕，與僕人同去。
撒下13:25王對押沙龍說：我兒，我們不必都去，恐怕使你耗費太多。押沙龍再三請王，王仍是不肯去，只為他祝福。
撒下13:26押沙龍說：王若不去，求王許我哥哥暗嫩同去，王說：何必要他去呢。
撒下13:27押沙龍再三求王，王就許暗嫩，和王的眾子，與他同去。
撒下13:28押沙龍吩咐僕人說：你們注意，看暗嫩飲酒暢快的時候，我對你們說：殺暗嫩，你們便殺他，不要懼怕，這不是我吩咐你們的麼。你們只管壯膽奮勇。
撒下13:29押沙龍的僕人就照押沙龍所吩咐的，向暗嫩行了。王的眾子都起來，各人騎上騾子，逃跑了。
撒下13:30他們還在路上，有風聲傳到大衛那裡，說：押沙龍將王的眾子都殺了，沒有留下一個。
撒下13:31王就起來，撕裂衣服，躺在地上，王的臣僕，也都撕裂衣服，站在旁邊。
撒下13:32大衛的長兄，示米亞的兒子約拿達說：我主，不要以為王的眾子少年人都殺了，只有暗嫩一個人死了，自從暗嫩玷辱押沙龍妹子他瑪的那日，押沙龍就定意殺暗嫩了。
撒下13:33現在我主我王，不要把這事放在心上，以為王的眾子都死了，只有暗嫩一個人死了。
撒下13:34押沙龍逃跑了。守望的少年人舉目觀看，見有許多人從山坡的路上來。
撒下13:35約拿達對王說：看哪，王的眾子都來了，果然與你僕人所說的相合。
撒下13:36話才說完，王的眾子都到了，放聲大哭，王和臣僕，也都哭得甚慟。
撒下13:37押沙龍逃到基述王亞米忽的兒子達買那裡去了。大衛天天為他兒子悲哀。
撒下13:38押沙龍逃到基述，在那裡住了三年。
撒下13:39暗嫩死了以後，大衛王得了安慰，心裡切切想念押沙龍。

撒下14:1洗魯雅的兒子約押，知道王心裡想念押沙龍，
撒下14:2就打發人往提哥亞去，從那裡叫了一個聰明的婦人來，對他說：請你假裝居喪的，穿上孝衣，不要用膏抹身，要裝作為死者許久悲哀的婦人。
撒下14:3進去見王，對王如此如此說。於是約押將當說的話教導了婦人。
撒下14:4提哥亞婦人到王面前，伏地叩拜，說：王阿，求你拯救。
撒下14:5王問他說：你有甚麼事呢，回答說：婢女實在是寡婦，我丈夫死了。
撒下14:6我有兩個兒子，一日在田間爭鬥，沒有人解勸，這個就打死那個。
撒下14:7現在全家的人都起來攻擊婢女，說：你將那打死兄弟的交出來，我們好治死他，償他打死兄弟的命，滅絕那承受家業的。這樣，他們要將我剩下的炭火滅盡，不與我丈夫留名留後在世上。
撒下14:8王對婦人說：你回家去罷，我必為你下令。
撒下14:9提哥亞婦人又對王說：我主我王，願這罪歸我，和我父家，與王和王的位無干。
撒下14:10王說：凡難為你的，你就帶他到我這裡來，他必不再攪擾你。
撒下14:11婦人說：願王記念耶和華你的神，不許報血仇的人施行滅絕，恐怕他們滅絕我的兒子。王說：我指著永生的耶和華起誓，你的兒子，連一根頭髮也不至落在地上。
撒下14:12婦人說：求我主我王，容婢女再說一句話，王說：你說罷。
撒下14:13婦人說：王為何也起意要害神的民呢，王不使那逃亡的人回來，王的這話，就是自證己錯了。
撒下14:14我們都是必死的，如同水潑在地上，不能收回，神並不奪取人的性命，乃設法使逃亡的人不至成為趕出回不來的。
撒下14:15我來將這話告訴我主我王，是因百姓使我懼怕，婢女想，不如將這話告訴王，或者王成就婢女所求的。
撒下14:16人要將我和我兒子，從神的地業上一同除滅，王必應允救我脫離他的手。
撒下14:17婢女又想我主我王的話必安慰我，因為我主我王能辨別是非，如同神的使者一樣，惟願耶和華你的神與你同在。
撒下14:18王對婦人說：我要問你一句話，你一點不要瞞我。婦人說：願我主我王說。
撒下14:19王說：你這些話莫非是約押的主意麼。婦人說：我敢在我主我王面前起誓，王的話正對，不偏左右，是王的僕人約押吩咐我的，這些話是他教導我的。
撒下14:20王的僕人約押如此行，為要挽回這事，我主的智慧，卻如神使者的智慧，能知世上一切事。
撒下14:21王對約押說：我應允你這事，你可以去，把那少年人押沙龍帶回來。
撒下14:22約押就面伏於地叩拜，祝謝於王，又說：王既應允僕人所求的，僕人今日知道在我主我王眼前蒙恩了。
撒下14:23於是約押起身往基述去，將押沙龍帶回耶路撒冷。
撒下14:24王說：使他回自己家裡去，不要見我的面，押沙龍就回自己家裡去，沒有見王的面。
撒下14:25以色列全地之中，無人像押沙龍那樣俊美，得人的稱讚，從腳底到頭頂，毫無瑕疵。
撒下14:26他的頭髮甚重，每到年底剪髮一次，所剪下來的，按王的平稱一稱，重二百舍客勒。
撒下14:27押沙龍生了三個兒子，一個女兒，女兒名叫他瑪，是個容貌俊美的女子。
撒下14:28押沙龍住在耶路撒冷足有二年，沒有見王的面。
撒下14:29押沙龍打發人去叫約押來，要託他去見王，約押卻不肯來，第二次打發人去叫他，他仍不肯來。
撒下14:30所以押沙龍對僕人說：你們看，約押有一塊田，與我的田相近，其中有大麥，你們去放火燒了。押沙龍的僕人就去放火燒了那田。
撒下14:31於是約押起來，到了押沙龍家裡，問他說：你的僕人為何放火燒了我的田呢。
撒下14:32押沙龍回答約押說：我打發人去請你來，好託你去見王，替我說：我為何從基述回來呢。不如仍在那裡。現在要許我見王的面，我若有罪，任憑王殺我就是了。
撒下14:33於是約押去見王，將這話奏告王，王便叫押沙龍來，押沙龍來見王，在王面前俯伏於地，王就與押沙龍親嘴。

2 Samuel 13

13 In the course of time, Amnon son of David fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of Absalom son of David.

2 Amnon became so obsessed with his sister Tamar that he made himself ill. She was a virgin, and it seemed impossible for him to do anything to her.

3 Now Amnon had an adviser named Jonadab son of Shimeah, David’s brother. Jonadab was a very shrewd man. 4 He asked Amnon, “Why do you, the king’s son, look so haggard morning after morning? Won’t you tell me?”

Amnon said to him, “I’m in love with Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.”

5 “Go to bed and pretend to be ill,” Jonadab said. “When your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘I would like my sister Tamar to come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare the food in my sight so I may watch her and then eat it from her hand.’”

6 So Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill. When the king came to see him, Amnon said to him, “I would like my sister Tamar to come and make some special bread in my sight, so I may eat from her hand.”

7 David sent word to Tamar at the palace: “Go to the house of your brother Amnon and prepare some food for him.” 8 So Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon, who was lying down. She took some dough, kneaded it, made the bread in his sight and baked it. 9 Then she took the pan and served him the bread, but he refused to eat.

“Send everyone out of here,” Amnon said. So everyone left him. 10 Then Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food here into my bedroom so I may eat from your hand.” And Tamar took the bread she had prepared and brought it to her brother Amnon in his bedroom. 11 But when she took it to him to eat, he grabbed her and said, “Come to bed with me, my sister.”

12 “No, my brother!” she said to him. “Don’t force me! Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don’t do this wicked thing. 13 What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you.” 14 But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.

15 Then Amnon hated her with intense hatred. In fact, he hated her more than he had loved her. Amnon said to her, “Get up and get out!”

16 “No!” she said to him. “Sending me away would be a greater wrong than what you have already done to me.”

But he refused to listen to her. 17 He called his personal servant and said, “Get this woman out of my sight and bolt the door after her.” 18 So his servant put her out and bolted the door after her. She was wearing an ornate[a] robe, for this was the kind of garment the virgin daughters of the king wore. 19 Tamar put ashes on her head and tore the ornate robe she was wearing. She put her hands on her head and went away, weeping aloud as she went.

20 Her brother Absalom said to her, “Has that Amnon, your brother, been with you? Be quiet for now, my sister; he is your brother. Don’t take this thing to heart.” And Tamar lived in her brother Absalom’s house, a desolate woman.

21 When King David heard all this, he was furious. 22 And Absalom never said a word to Amnon, either good or bad; he hated Amnon because he had disgraced his sister Tamar.

Absalom Kills Amnon
23 Two years later, when Absalom’s sheepshearers were at Baal Hazor near the border of Ephraim, he invited all the king’s sons to come there. 24 Absalom went to the king and said, “Your servant has had shearers come. Will the king and his attendants please join me?”

25 “No, my son,” the king replied. “All of us should not go; we would only be a burden to you.” Although Absalom urged him, he still refused to go but gave him his blessing.

26 Then Absalom said, “If not, please let my brother Amnon come with us.”

The king asked him, “Why should he go with you?” 27 But Absalom urged him, so he sent with him Amnon and the rest of the king’s sons.

28 Absalom ordered his men, “Listen! When Amnon is in high spirits from drinking wine and I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon down,’ then kill him. Don’t be afraid. Haven’t I given you this order? Be strong and brave.” 29 So Absalom’s men did to Amnon what Absalom had ordered. Then all the king’s sons got up, mounted their mules and fled.

30 While they were on their way, the report came to David: “Absalom has struck down all the king’s sons; not one of them is left.” 31 The king stood up, tore his clothes and lay down on the ground; and all his attendants stood by with their clothes torn.

32 But Jonadab son of Shimeah, David’s brother, said, “My lord should not think that they killed all the princes; only Amnon is dead. This has been Absalom’s express intention ever since the day Amnon raped his sister Tamar. 33 My lord the king should not be concerned about the report that all the king’s sons are dead. Only Amnon is dead.”

34 Meanwhile, Absalom had fled.

Now the man standing watch looked up and saw many people on the road west of him, coming down the side of the hill. The watchman went and told the king, “I see men in the direction of Horonaim, on the side of the hill.”[b]

35 Jonadab said to the king, “See, the king’s sons have come; it has happened just as your servant said.”

36 As he finished speaking, the king’s sons came in, wailing loudly. The king, too, and all his attendants wept very bitterly.

37 Absalom fled and went to Talmai son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. But King David mourned many days for his son.

38 After Absalom fled and went to Geshur, he stayed there three years. 39 And King David longed to go to Absalom, for he was consoled concerning Amnon’s death.

 

2 Samuel 14 

Absalom Returns to Jerusalem

14 Joab son of Zeruiah knew that the king’s heart longed for Absalom. 2 So Joab sent someone to Tekoa and had a wise woman brought from there. He said to her, “Pretend you are in mourning. Dress in mourning clothes, and don’t use any cosmetic lotions. Act like a woman who has spent many days grieving for the dead. 3 Then go to the king and speak these words to him.” And Joab put the words in her mouth.

4 When the woman from Tekoa went[a] to the king, she fell with her face to the ground to pay him honor, and she said, “Help me, Your Majesty!”

5 The king asked her, “What is troubling you?”

She said, “I am a widow; my husband is dead. 6 I your servant had two sons. They got into a fight with each other in the field, and no one was there to separate them. One struck the other and killed him. 7 Now the whole clan has risen up against your servant; they say, ‘Hand over the one who struck his brother down, so that we may put him to death for the life of his brother whom he killed; then we will get rid of the heir as well.’ They would put out the only burning coal I have left, leaving my husband neither name nor descendant on the face of the earth.”

8 The king said to the woman, “Go home, and I will issue an order in your behalf.”

9 But the woman from Tekoa said to him, “Let my lord the king pardon me and my family, and let the king and his throne be without guilt.”

10 The king replied, “If anyone says anything to you, bring them to me, and they will not bother you again.”

11 She said, “Then let the king invoke the Lord his God to prevent the avenger of blood from adding to the destruction, so that my son will not be destroyed.”

“As surely as the Lord lives,” he said, “not one hair of your son’s head will fall to the ground.”

12 Then the woman said, “Let your servant speak a word to my lord the king.”

“Speak,” he replied.

13 The woman said, “Why then have you devised a thing like this against the people of God? When the king says this, does he not convict himself, for the king has not brought back his banished son? 14 Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But that is not what God desires; rather, he devises ways so that a banished person does not remain banished from him.

15 “And now I have come to say this to my lord the king because the people have made me afraid. Your servant thought, ‘I will speak to the king; perhaps he will grant his servant’s request. 16 Perhaps the king will agree to deliver his servant from the hand of the man who is trying to cut off both me and my son from God’s inheritance.’

17 “And now your servant says, ‘May the word of my lord the king secure my inheritance, for my lord the king is like an angel of God in discerning good and evil. May the Lord your God be with you.’”

18 Then the king said to the woman, “Don’t keep from me the answer to what I am going to ask you.”

“Let my lord the king speak,” the woman said.

19 The king asked, “Isn’t the hand of Joab with you in all this?”

The woman answered, “As surely as you live, my lord the king, no one can turn to the right or to the left from anything my lord the king says. Yes, it was your servant Joab who instructed me to do this and who put all these words into the mouth of your servant. 20 Your servant Joab did this to change the present situation. My lord has wisdom like that of an angel of God—he knows everything that happens in the land.”

21 The king said to Joab, “Very well, I will do it. Go, bring back the young man Absalom.”

22 Joab fell with his face to the ground to pay him honor, and he blessed the king. Joab said, “Today your servant knows that he has found favor in your eyes, my lord the king, because the king has granted his servant’s request.”

23 Then Joab went to Geshur and brought Absalom back to Jerusalem. 24 But the king said, “He must go to his own house; he must not see my face.” So Absalom went to his own house and did not see the face of the king.

25 In all Israel there was not a man so highly praised for his handsome appearance as Absalom. From the top of his head to the sole of his foot there was no blemish in him. 26 Whenever he cut the hair of his head—he used to cut his hair once a year because it became too heavy for him—he would weigh it, and its weight was two hundred shekels[b] by the royal standard.

27 Three sons and a daughter were born to Absalom. His daughter’s name was Tamar, and she became a beautiful woman.

28 Absalom lived two years in Jerusalem without seeing the king’s face. 29 Then Absalom sent for Joab in order to send him to the king, but Joab refused to come to him. So he sent a second time, but he refused to come. 30 Then he said to his servants, “Look, Joab’s field is next to mine, and he has barley there. Go and set it on fire.” So Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.

31 Then Joab did go to Absalom’s house, and he said to him, “Why have your servants set my field on fire?”

32 Absalom said to Joab, “Look, I sent word to you and said, ‘Come here so I can send you to the king to ask, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me if I were still there!”’ Now then, I want to see the king’s face, and if I am guilty of anything, let him put me to death.”

33 So Joab went to the king and told him this. Then the king summoned Absalom, and he came in and bowed down with his face to the ground before the king. And the king kissed Absalom.
